Evidential (Repo )
My capstone solo project for App Academy. Evidential is an app to help researchers analyze and rate the arguments made within texts for various claims those texts attempt to support.
As a child, I loved art ... and math. A synthesis of creativity and logic have been a part of me ever since I can remember. I first learned a bit of programming in a high school elective class, but chose to pursue architectural studies in college (my freshmen architectural studio was one of the first computer aided design courses offerred at the University of Oregon) before switching to Fine and Applied Arts (emphasis on drawing and painting). After graduation, I ended up using CAD to draft motor coach floorplans and cabinets.
After coming to know Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, I eventually went back to school to study software engineering at a Christian school—briefly. Some spiritual questions moved me to switch to seminary, and I ultimately went on to get my Ph.D. in Biblical Studies. Yet during my master's degree studies, I did web design, learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript virtually on my own.
After teaching graduate students for a number of years and trying my hand at being an associate pastor, I've now circled back around to software. I never quite get rid of the itch to code. In January 2021, I completed App Academy's 6-month, intensive online bootcamp for Full Stack Software Engineering in an effort to switch into that career field.
My hobby's include walking/hiking with my wife, reading/watching speculative fiction (particularly the fantasy genre), and a passion for technical trading the Forex market, with a particular interest in the EUR/USD pair.
